Life Events

We love to celebrate baptisms and weddings at St Andrew’s, occasions for us to celebrate God’s loving presence in our human relationships. Promises this big need to be made in church!

We also provide help at times of sadness through prayer, bereavement support and our funeral ministry.

‘I am the resurrection and the life.’

John 11:25

Baptisms

Baptisms (also known as a christening) is a joyful celebration of all that God has done for us and will continue to do as we walk through life with him. Through this ‘window’, God’s love and grace are experienced in a special and powerful way. When a person is baptised, they become part of the worldwide family of the church.

Baptism is open to people of all ages and can take place either within the 9.45 am Parish Communion or afterwards at 11.30 am.

Weddings

We believe that marriage is a gift from God, the source of all love. Jesus was a guest at a wedding in Cana of Galilee where he turned water into wine.  Whilst we can’t promise to do that at St Andrew’s (!), we can ensure that your day is a special, spiritual and significant celebration.

Our beautiful building, talented director of music and warm welcome help to create a wonderful atmosphere for you and your guests.  Those who live in our parish, worship with us or have a family connection are welcome to marry at St Andrew’s.

Funerals

The loss of a loved one is one of the hardest things we must cope with. We can feel very alone as we walk the path of grief. St Andrew’s is here to help you through prayer, bereavement support and our funeral ministry.

A personal and dignified funeral service, at church or in a local crematorium chapel, can bring comfort during this difficult time and hope for the future. As Christians we believe that death is not the end, but the beginning of a new life with God. We celebrate the life of the person who has died, entrust them to God’s everlasting care and stand together in our grief.

A funeral in church offers both space and time for a personalised service. Committal at the crematorium or burial at the cemetery can be arranged to follow on. The vicar of St Andrew’s will conduct funerals both in the church and in all crematoria in the area, working with the family to create a personalised service to reflect your loved one.
